WPML Troubleshooting

WPML Troubleshooting holds the repair tools that change your site's data, so a site that does not need them does not carry them; this release covers everything since the plugin was introduced with WPML 5.0.

The repair tools as a plugin of their own

• The WPML tools that reset, fix, remove or re-sync data now come in this separate plugin, while WPML keeps the Support page and its read-only diagnostics.
• The tools appear on WPML → Support once the plugin is active, and a user with the WPML support capability can use them, not only an administrator.
• The Support pages show only the repair sections that apply to your site.

Repairs that report what happened

• "Fix WPML tables collation" and "Fix post type assignment" read the server's answer before saying "Done", and the post type repair reports the changes the database refused.
• "Synchronize translators and managers" says why it could not run instead of failing silently.
• "Assign translation status to duplicates" finishes the whole site instead of stopping after the first twenty posts.

Repairs that keep your data

• "Assign translation status to duplicates" and "Remove ghost entries" no longer mark a genuine translation as a duplicate or delete the original its translations depend on.
• Removing strings by domain and "Cleanup and optimize string tables" keep the strings that are waiting for a translation unless you ask to remove them too.
• "Fix element type collation" widens the column to its full width instead of narrowing it.
• "Update domain" rewrites a language switcher template's links onto the site's current address, including the path of a site installed in a subfolder.

Security

• This release includes security hardening.

New

• First release of WPML Troubleshooting: the repair tools that shipped inside WPML Multilingual CMS until 4.9 are now a separate plugin
• Provides the repair tools under WPML > Support: Reset WPML, Fix translations, Fix language data and Database & strings maintenance
• Includes the translation-service maintenance actions: sync with ATE, migrate source ids, clear the translation service, reset the preferred service and the professional-translation configuration
• Includes package management (delete and re-register packages), internal links repair, and the WooCommerce Multilingual fix and maintenance actions
• The read-only diagnostics (system check, logs, debug information) remain in WPML Multilingual CMS

Compatibility

• Requires WPML Multilingual CMS 5.0.0; on an older version the plugin shows a notice and does nothing
