WPML SEO

This release fixes several issues affecting redirects, sitemaps and translated term data when you use WPML SEO alongside Yoast SEO or Rank Math.

Yoast SEO Premium redirects

• Regex redirects now work correctly on secondary-language pages when your site uses languages in directories.
• Saving a translated product category no longer creates a broken redirect loop on sites using a different domain per language.
• Yoast SEO Premium's Redirects screen no longer rejects valid redirects for secondary-language content on sites using language directories.

Sitemaps

• The per-language sitemap list now appears on WPML → Settings → URLs and SEO for sites using a different domain per language.

Term meta and taxonomy translation

• Yoast SEO and Rank Math term meta fields, including category and taxonomy data, now stay correctly synced and indexed when you edit and translate terms.
• Yoast SEO term meta fields served from the translation are now locked in the secondary-language admin.
• Category slugs now translate correctly when Rank Math's "Remove parent slugs" option is enabled.

Author archives and schema

• Author archive titles, descriptions and URLs are now translated correctly for each language.
• A per-post Schema page type or article type setting now survives translation on sites that cannot reach WPML's online configuration.

• WPML SEO now follows WPML 5.0's new way of switching languages, so every page keeps the language it was built in.

• Resolved an issue where hidden languages were incorrectly included as alternate language references in sitemaps.

• Fixed a fatal error in taxonomy sitemaps that occurred when term_id was different from term_taxonomy_id.

YoastSEO

• Added support for translating term meta data using the WPML Translation Management Dashboard.
• Fixed an issue with the language in news sitemaps coming from the "WP SEO News" addon.
• Added alternative languages (hreflangs) to sitemaps.
• Implemented an improvement to check if a term is indexable before adding it to the sitemap.
• Refactored the way first links are listed in sitemaps to fix pagination bugs.
• Fixed the WooCommerce shop page URL in the sitemap.
• Added support for sitemap caching which is not enabled by default, but Divi enables it.
• Improved overall performance by restricting home_url filters to sitemaps.
• Improved overall performance by removing an unnecessary flush of WPML's convert-url cache in every request.
• Fixed an edge case issue with the breadcrumb title for categories after it is updated.

Rank Math SEO

• Implemented a fix that syncs primary category to translations.
• Added alternative languages (hreflangs) to sitemaps.
• Added the option to filter sitemaps by language in language-per-domain setups.
• Added the option to filter sitemaps by language in HTML sitemaps.

Usability

• Integrated the plugin with the new Translation Management Dashboard.
• Implemented the new Advanced Translation Editor (ATE) layout for SEO fields.
• Implemented the job field’s 'purpose' attribute to limit characters in the translations of an SEO title and meta description in ATE.
